We are the Northern most of the three branches that compose the South West Herts parliamentary constituency, being that part which falls within Dacorum Borough Council area. We consist of the electoral wards of Aldbury and Wiggington, Bovingdon Flaunden and Chipperfield, and Northchurch as well as the six wards that fall within the towns of Berkhamsted and Tring.
We have around 400 members spread across the Branch, as well as many more registered supporters. Our main aims are:
- Provide a forum to discuss the issues of the day with like-minded people, running lively pub discussion nights, inviting speakers from local organisations to speak at our all-members meetings and regular social events.
- Like our Constituency Labour Party (SW Herts), we are a democratic organisation, run by our members. We elect our officers and feed our views to the National Executive of the Labour Party in order to influence Labour policy.
- To manage Labour’s campaigns for local elections to Dacorum Borough Council. To do this we team up with Hemel Hempstead Labour Party through the Dacorum Local Campaign Forum. This means we get involved with canvassing door-to-door, distributing leaflets and holding stalls.
Of course, what each individual member does varies greatly, but rest assured that all our activities are conducted in a spirit of comradeship and respect for one another. If you are a member, you should already be receiving invites to upcoming events from us. If you are not and are thinking of joining us, then contact our Branch Secretary, Pam Stonebrook, at email@example.com and she will let you know what is going on.
Whether you are a new member, or a long-standing one wishing to get more involved, why not come along of one of our local meetings and give us a try? You almost certainly won’t be alone, as we nearly always get to welcome new faces at each of our meetings.
