Green Hydrogen
Green Hydrogen

Imagine a world that is totally powered by green renewables, no nuclear, no buried CO2. Due to the variations in power supply of renewables their capacity is sized to power the world on an average day. On some days excess power is generated and Green Hydrogen (GH2) is made with the excess, un-wanted power. On other days there is not enough power from renewables and GH2 replaces gas in power stations to back-up the supply, the waste product … clean water.

GH2 is a green molecule, used as the raw product to decarbonise all industries: aviation, steel, chemical, agriculture.

That’s it, plan sorted, we just have to do it. The science is done, costs are coming down daily and will come down further. The developed world needs to lead and make it even cheaper. The EU are, the UK & US are out of touch and badly influenced.

We must do it efficiently, to get fossil free as fast as possible, with high-capacity inter-continental power connectors, massive ramp up in renewable installations across the world and voluminous underground salt cavern stores for GH2. It is always more efficient to use electricity directly, so the demand side requires a radical upgrade with electrification of everything possible: homes, offices, cars, lorries and trains.

With GH2, Carbon Capture and Storage is unnecessary.  It is just an over-promised, expensive and unsustainable way of enabling fossil fuel burners to profit from their assets.  (see Greenpeace Carbon Capture Scam survey and, more recently, the Tyndall Review)
