The pandemic has taken 150,000 lives. The UK has had the worst recession of any major economy, which has been deepened by the Conservatives’ irresponsible, last-minute decision-making. We need the Government to secure the economy by protecting family incomes and supporting businesses.
Instead, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor are planning to hike Council Tax and cut Universal Credit, hitting families in Britain when they are most in need.
And, the Chancellor won’t give the key workers, who risked their lives, the pay rise they deserve.
What does this mean for Tring & Hertfordshire?
We need to reignite our economy by breathing life back into our town centre. That means pedestrianising our high street so that we can increase the footfall into our high street so that our shops and markets can flourish. We also need to create monthly events that will attract people into our town centre. We should also develop regular electric shuttle bus which runs to and from Tring station and runs directly into our town centre.
We need to act now to stimulate new businesses but we also need to take the right steps that also protect the environment and character of Tring.
