Berkhamsted sewage treatment works has been impacted by the increase in groundwater infiltration in the network, caused by the wet weather this autumn and winter. The area has been prioritised for groundwater infiltration investigations this year, as a result. The site has been breached for discharges from storm tanks during non-storm conditions. We have highlighted in this breach that the water quality impact will start to increase with water temperature. An Environment Officer will be carrying out a compliance check this month.
