Solidarity via the Vase: Mother’s Day and the Rights of Women Flower Workers 7pm 8th March

The Labour Party is hosting an online meeting to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021 and Mother’s Day at 7pm on the 8th March 2021.

The meeting will take a look at the lives of women involved in the global supply chains of the flowers we often give to represent our love and thanks.

Do you know where the flowers in your vase are from or who has cut and packed them? Does this matter and what might an ‘sustainable flower’ be?

Find out more from Dr Jill Timms, Labour Party member and Women’s Officer (Berkhamsted & Tring), who is co-leading a research project at Coventry University on sustainable flowers. This focuses on how raised standards and conscious flower buying could improve the lives of flower workers and all those in supply chains, as well as the complexities of local versus global opportunities.

There will be opportunity for Q&A and discussion is much encouraged. For more information, please see http://sustainableflowers.coventry.domains and @JillLTimms on Twitter.

Please register for the event here , and you will be emailed the link to join in advance of the day.

The meeting is open not just to Labour party members, but all local people with an interest in workers rights.
