In this dark hour our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people who through no fault of their own are now involved in a horrific war. Democracy itself is at stake.
This CLP believes that the UK must now make a clean break with the failed approach to dealing with Putin which after Georgia, Crimea and Donbas fed his belief that the benefits of aggression outweigh the cost.

This CLP believes:

• That the harshest economic and political sanctions possible be taken against the Putin regime and its friends.
• That measures be taken so that the UK is no longer the money launderer of choice for corrupt Russian politicians and businesses
• That the UK offer sanctuary now to all Ukrainian citizens who request it and that they be allowed to work whilst in the UK. They should be entitled to the same benefits as those enjoyed by EU citizens such as free health care.
• That the UK government provide generous humanitarian aid to those who decide to stay in their homeland.
