It seems that the Government has lost the confidence of most of its supporters and, more importantly, the British people according to the latest YouGov opinion poll. To me one of the most serious charges against the Government is that for months its attention has been devoted almost entirely to defending and shoring up Boris Johnson rather than dealing with the vital issues of the day such as the cost of living crisis, the poor state of the NHS and climate change.

We have seen in recent days an exodus by ministers and parliamentary aides but what have our local MP’s done? As is usual neither Dean Russell (Watford) or Gagan Mohindra (SW Herts) seem to acknowledge how bad things are or how disgusted many of their constituents are with the shenanigan’s in their party. And so far as I can see neither have made any real effort to find out what we think. The honourable thing is for them to detach themselves from this Government and resign their roles in it because unless they do they will be seen as supporting it.
