I was at a wedding at the weekend and in the evening a song was played that will be familiar to many of your (older?) readers. It was by The Who and goes “Meet the new boss – same as the old boss. We won’t get fooled again”.
Despite its age it made me think how accurately it summed up recent political events.
The Tory Party has been in power for 12 years and many people think it has lost direction. Many struggle to identify their values or what they stand for. We have had Prime Minister after Prime Minister in quick succession each promising to solve the country’s problems but achieving very little in practice. In fact one could argue they have made them much worse – ask anyone with a mortgage or an energy bill they cannot afford to pay. Local MPs don’t appear to do much except blindly follow the party line, whatever it might be in any particular week!
So Watford voters, I suggest that when we next have the opportunity to vote we each ensure that “we won’t get fooled again”.
